Covered areas

Paso now offers step-free walking navigation in nearly all of Japan. You don't need to be in a specific registered city — routing works wherever map data exists (open water and unmapped remote areas are the exceptions).

Data reliability varies, though. The areas listed below have been checked on the ground by a person — a "hand-verified area." Everywhere else is generated automatically from OpenStreetMap data and hasn't been checked by a person yet. Routes in an auto-generated area show an "Auto-generated area (unconfirmed)" note — actual steps or path conditions may differ from what's shown.

When a route can't be found

Places with no map data (open water, remote islands) or trips over 30 km may not return a route. Even there, you can open the map around you from the app's "Map" tab and report barriers — with a photo — steps, stairs, construction, flooding and more (reports are reviewed before they appear). Areas where reports accumulate are added to the hand-verified list next.
